Laird Campbell
Laird Campbell: is an 81 year old artist – spontaneous, complex, and keenly interested in the world around him. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he came to Montreal, Canada to work in exhibition and display at the World Fair – Expo ’67. He is currently a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and contributes regularly to their public exhibitions. The term ‘stochastic approach’ describes his wood compositions – working toward probable completion through a manipulation of geometry.
Matt Blackwell
Matt Blackwell: received his BFA from the Portland School of Art, Maine, participated in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and received his MFA from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC. Blackwell received a Purchase Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters (2006) and his work was included in the 2013 Maine Biennial and is currently in “Modern Menagerie”.at the Portland Museum of Art. Fellowship residencies include Yadoo; Sculpture Space in Utica, NY; Vermont Studio Center; Triangle Arts Association and Art Lot in Red Hook Brooklyn. Blackwell had six solo shows the Edward Thorp Gallery in New York city and is represented by Greenhut/Cove Street Gallery in Portland Maine. In addition to a solo exhibition at Pierogi Gallery, Brooklyn, Blackwell’s work has been exhibited at Studio 10 and Parker’s Box in Brooklyn, NY, John Davis Gallery (Hudson, N.Y.), Hartwick College (Oneota, NY), Greenhut Gallery, (Portland, Me,) Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta GA) and numerous group shows in New York City and Maine. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2015.
Stephen Burt
Stephen Burt: is painter and printmaker. Born in Deland, Florida in 1962. Educated at Rhode Island School of Design (BFA 1987) and SUNY Purchase (MFA 1991). A member of Peregrine Press in Portland, Maine, he is a Professor of Art in the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of New England.
Allan Bealy
Allan Bealy: is a Canadian artist, art director and graphic designer who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. In the 80s, Allan was co-publisher of Benzene, an arts magazine and has had several books of his collages published, most recently: Tokens by Red Fox Press in 2023. Allan’s practice now focuses on collage and mixed media, as well as continuing to publish, occasionally, under the Benzene Editions banner.
