The Story of Peace Eye
began in an urban commune
one night in the fall of 1961

I was reading John Cage’s
book Silence
and taking a course
in ancient Egyptian

Peace Eye began that evening
as I wrote a poem
about seeing my mother
in an Egyptian Boat in the Sky
the night she passed away

& the Peace eye story
continued through the years
