After Luna Moth

by Erika Gabrielsen

Things felt different after a luna moth graced my failing railing
Still for 24 hours, her purple outline on greenest green
like a royal cape lightly falling off soft shoulders
Deemed her my queen
Her beauty emanated, illuminated, radiated
into the silent cave of my heart

Sacred, nothingness — her absence now has presence
Somewhere she perished after her 10 days lapsed
A hum in the dim din of dusk
Full moon soon, gravity holding me to earth
She left whispering echoes of hope
Vibrating eternal quantum waves in the multiverse
where she was
Where I am still
