Alfredo Zaldivar
Alfredo Zaldivar: (1956), was born in Holgu n but has lived in Matanzas, Cuba since 1973. In 1985 he helped found the world–renowned handmade book collective, Ediciones Vigia, where he worked for 15 years. He now heads Ediciones Matanzas in the same city. In 2012 he was awarded Cuba’s National Editors Prize and holds a High Honor of Distinction in National Culture, among many other awards. Among his books are: Concilio de las aguas (1989), La vida en ciernes (2002), Esperando a viernes (2009), Trillos /precipicios /concurrencias (2014) Rasgado con las manos (2015), and Cuchillos en el aire /Knives in the Air (2015).
Victor Rodriguez Núñez
Victor Rodriguez Núñez: (1955), is one of Cuba’s most outstanding and celebrated contemporary writers, with over 50 collections of his poetry published throughout the world. He has been the recipient of major awards in the Spanish–speaking region, including, in 2015, the coveted Loewe Prize. His selected poems have been translated into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Macedonian, Serbian, Swedish, and Vietnamese. He has been a riveting presence at the most important international literary festivals, having read in more than forty countries. Elicura Chihuailaf
Elicura Chihuailaf: (1952), is a definitive voice of contemporary Mapuche poetry. He writes in both Mapuzugun and Spanish, and he has translated works by Pablo Neruda and others into Mapuzugun. His books include En el pais de la memoria (1988), El invierno, su imagen y otros poemas azules (1991), and De suenos azules y contrasuenos (1995), Recado confidencial a los chilenos (1999), Kallfv (2006), A orillas de un sueno azul (2010), La vida es una nube azul (2019), and El azul del tiempo que nos suena (2020). In 2020, he was awarded the National Literature Prize of Chile, becoming the first Mapuche writer to receive this honor.
Reina Maria Rodriguez
Reina Maria Rodriguez: (1952), is recognized as a major poet and as an advocate for non–governmental cultural spaces. Her rooftop home, informally known as la azotea de Reina, served as a salon for the Cuban literary community for many years. English translations of her work include Violet Island and Other Poems (Green Integer, 2004), La Detencion del Tiempo /Time’s Arrest (Factory School, 2005), Other Letters to Milena (University of Alabama Press, 2014), and The Winter Garden Photograph (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2019). Among her many awards are Casa de las Americas poetry prizes in 1984 and 1998.
