Jeffrey Cyphers Wright
Jeffrey Cyphers Wright: came to the East Village in 1976 and studied with Allen Ginsberg to earn an MFA in poetry from Brooklyn College. He is the author of 13 books of poetry, the most recent being Triple Crown, Sonnets, from Spuyten Duyvil. His poems also appear in six anthologies including Out of This World from Crown Press and Thus Spake the Corpse from Black Sparrow Press. He started Hard Press in 1978 where he published three books, including the anthology 3–Zero, Turning Thirty, and 100 postcards by different artists and poets. A selection of the postcards were included in the book A Secret Location on the Lower East Side and were displayed at New York Public Library. He started Live Mag! in 2007.
Jeri Theriault
Jeri Theriault: her book Radost, my red was published by Moon Pie Press in 2016. In the Museum of Surrender won the 2013 Encircle Publications chapbook contest. She has two previous chapbooks and her poems have appeared widely. A Fulbright recipient and Pushcart Prize nominee, she holds an MFA from Vermont College. Her teaching career included six years as English department chair at the International School of Prague. She lives in South Portland, Maine and is married to the composer, Philip Carlsen.
Paul Pines
Paul Pines: grew up in Brooklyn around the corner from Ebbets Field and passed the early 60s on the Lower East Side of New York. He shipped out as a Merchant Seaman, spending part of 65/66 in Vietnam, after which he drove a cab until opening his Bowery jazz club, The Tin Palace, the setting for his novel, The Tin Angel. Redemption, a second novel, is set against the genocide of Guatemalan Mayans. My Brother’s Madness, a memoir, explores the unfolding of intertwined lives. He has published thirteen books of poetry. Simon Pettet
Simon Pettet: was born in England in 1953 and in 1977 moved to New York City’s Lower East Side. He is the author of Lyrical Poetry, and four other books from Talisman: Selected Poems (1995), More Winnowed Fragments (2005), Hearth (2008), and As a Bee (2014). He collaborated on two books with the photographer/filmmaker Rudy Burckhardt, Conversations About Everything (1987) and Talking Pictures (1994), as well as editing The Art Writings of James Schuyler, Black Sparrow (1998) and Other Flowers: Uncollected Poems, a posthumous collection of Schuyler’s writing (2010).
